Summary

“Using Project Outcome Data in Grant Applications” is the third in a series of three webinars designed to help library leaders and staff turn their Project Outcome results into action. This webinar builds upon previous sessions about good practices for communicating about data and developing effective messaging; it will focus on how to incorporate Project Outcome survey results into grant applications. Participants will hear from an evaluation expert and other library leaders about their own experience and lessons learned from communicating their Project Outcome survey results.

 

Takeaways

At the conclusion of this webinar, participants will:

• Identify best practices and strategies for including outcome measurement data in grant applications;
• Be able to write a compelling grant application statement that incorporates Project Outcome results and planning, in order to help make the request resonate with funders; and
• Know how other libraries have used Project Outcome data in grant applications.

This webinar is open to everyone but will be most beneficial for public libraries participating or interested in Project Outcome. Instructors

Crystal Schimpf is a library training consultant and co-founder of Kixal, where she provides collaborative, transformative training for libraries and nonprofits. She has provided training on projects for the Urban Libraries Council’s Edge Initiative, the Public Library Association, TechSoup, the Colorado State Library, Community Technology Network, and the R-Squared Conference. Crystal is a degreed librarian with a passion for digital literacy and technology issues and has worked on many projects, programs, and services that require outcome measurement.

Jennifer K. Sweeney, MSLS, PhD is a program evaluation and management planning consultant for libraries, schools, and other education-related organizations. Recent projects include strategic planning for the Menlo Park Library, Monrovia Public Library, and Child’s Voice, a premier organization that prepares young children with hearing impairment for mainstream school. Dr. Sweeney has over 18 years of evaluation experience including developing measurement instruments for K–16 educational interventions for the University of California, Davis School of Education, and evaluation services for clients such as the Idaho Commission for Libraries, the Nevada State Library & Archives, California Center for the Book, California Library Association, Community Water Center, and the Association for State and Territorial Health Organizations (ASTHO). During 20 years as a librarian, she served at the University of California, Davis Library, American University Library in Washington, D.C., and Cost Engineering Research, Inc. in Arlington, Va. She teaches in the MLIS program at the Simmons College School of Library and Information Science and the College of Computing and Informatics, Drexel University. She has developed numerous continuing education programs for InfoPeople, Library Juice Academy, and others. MSLS, Catholic University; PhD, UCLA. Certified facilitator, Technology of Participation™ and The Leadership Challenge™ methods.
